Search Console Issues

I am MM Rahman Bappi, an experienced Technical SEO consultant. I use Google Search Console (GSC) to monitor your website’s performance. GSC is a free tool. It helps identify and fix potential problems. These problems may hinder your appearance in Google’s search results.

Common Google Search Console Error Reports and Fixes:

1. Submitted URL Errors: Pages With Errors Have Not Been Indexed

Pages Blocked by robots.txt: Test the page using the robots.txt tester to confirm the issue and modify the robots.txt file or the page.

Page Is Marked “No Index”: Remove the “noindex” meta robots tag or HTTP header from the page.

Page Has a Crawl Issue: Use the URL inspection tool in Google Search Console to debug the page.

2. 404 Errors (Page Not Found)

Submitted URL Seems to Be a Soft 404: Configure your server to return a 404 or 410 response code if the page is no longer available.

Submitted URL Not Found (404): Add a 301 redirect if the URL has moved or ignore the error if the page is intentionally removed.

3. Server Error (5XX)

Cause: Your server returned a 500-level error.

Fixing these errors: To make sure your site is working properly, check how long it takes for pages to load. Also, make sure the server is not down, overloaded, or misconfigured. Lastly, confirm that your site is not blocking Google.

4. Redirect Error

Cause: Issues like redirect chains, loops, or exceeding the maximum length in redirect URLs.

Fixing these errors: Review and optimize redirects to avoid errors.

5. New Product Issues Detected for Site

Cause: Missing elements in product-specific Structured Data Markup (SDM).

Fixing these errors: Add required elements like “Offers,” “Review,” or “aggregateRating” to product pages.

6. Video Page Indexing Issues Detected

Common Errors: The thumbnail URL is missing. The video is outside the viewport. The video format is unsupported. The thumbnail cannot be reached. The upload date is missing.

Fixing these errors: Please provide a small image URL. Make sure the video is visible on the screen. Use video formats that are supported. Also, include the date when the video was uploaded.

7. Mobile Usability Errors

Common Errors: Clickable elements too close together, viewport not set, content wider than screen, text too small to read.

Fixing these errors: Adjust touch elements, set the viewport using the meta tag, use relative width, and set font sizes to scale properly.

8. Excluded From Indexing Errors

Common Exclusions: Crawled – Currently Not Indexed, Crawl Anomaly, Duplicate without User-Selected Canonical, Duplicate, Submitted URL Not Selected As Canonical, Discovered – Currently Not Indexed.

Fixing these errors: Review and address issues related to crawling, duplicates, and canonical tags.
